At SOC Day Ukraine 2024, our colleague, Serhiy Potapov, presented “From Project Creation to SOC Support Services: Aligning Transition Processes.” During the talk, he shared insightful thoughts on project management and team organization in the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity operations centers (SOC).
Here are a few key takeaways from Serhiy’s presentation:● “What does the outcome look like in terms that matter to decision-makers?” This is one of the most crucial questions to accompany every new solution, whether in SOC projects or elsewhere.● Clear understanding of the end goal. It’s vital to grasp why the business needs this change and what benefits it will bring. The metrics that describe “why” often differ greatly from the technical parameters that describe “what.”● A project is more than just a product. Simply deploying a technology platform is insufficient. It’s essential to consider all the necessary actions that will ensure the proper functioning of critical services. In SOC projects, this kind of integration can take more effort than deployment itself.● Project completion is usually the start of a new cycle. Strategic development in cybersecurity lies in the continuous build-out of critical capabilities.
