Massive DDoS attacks on Ukraine

Ukraine has been confronting Russia's armed aggression for eleven months now, with the active phase of the war beginning on 24 February. However, few people know that the cyber aggression by the mistaken country began much earlier. Active massive attacks on Ukrainian companies started on 15 February and continue to this day.Initially, these were targeted attacks that were carefully prepared and implemented by specialists with knowledge of cyber aggression. The purpose of such attacks was destructive. Russian hackers tried to destroy the critical infrastructure of government agencies, the financial sector, telecommunications infrastructure, and other essential sectors of Ukraine's economy.
But we survived! The IT community skillfully responded to these challenges by quickly dividing responsibilities. Some stood up for themselves and started helping in any way they could. Others created a community that has been and continues to be successful in "testing" targets in the aggressor's territory. The enemy began to learn from the strong resistance, including from us. Recently, we have heard more and more about similar groups from the "society" of the aggressor country, and communities are also emerging and growing there, which are less professional but quite massive and, therefore, effective in attacking Ukraine's IT infrastructure.
How does it work, and what algorithm does the enemy use? The first step is for war criminals to select a target for attack. In most cases, this is done openly in various messengers. After that, they announce the start of the attack. Then everything works on the "as I know how, so I do" principle. Someone generates a large amount of TCP-UDP-Flood traffic. Someone generates HTTP requests. Some thieves are looking for weaknesses and conduct more professional attacks. The result is a rather dangerous combination, as the variety of attack types distracts attention while the more professional attacks achieve their goals.
The main targets of the attackers are web resources, official pages of government agencies, law enforcement agencies, mobile operators, the banking sector (client-bank, mobile application), websites and portals of companies that ensure our energy independence, resources of charitable foundations, etc.
